UK named an Innovation & Economic Prosperity University by APLU

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 28, 2023) — In recognition of its strong commitment to economic engagement, the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU), one of the nation’s top higher education associations, has designated the University of Kentucky as an Innovation & Economic Prosperity (IEP) University.

College of Communication and Information, Gatton College of Business and Economics empower entrepreneurial thinking

The University of Kentucky College of Communication and Information (CI) and the Gatton College of Business and Economics are excited to announce collaborative initiatives related to entrepreneurial thinking. CI is home to the Innovation Network for Entrepreneurial Thinking (iNet) certificate. This multidisciplinary certificate is geared towards students interested in an academic and entrepreneurial pathway at UK.

UK announces CivicLex as 2023-24 Cornerstone Community Innovation Partner

The University of Kentucky is thrilled to unveil its selected Cornerstone Community Innovation Partner (CIP) for the upcoming 2023-24 academic year. This year’s partner is CivicLex, who will have an ongoing presence at The Cornerstone to increase community engagement with students, staff and faculty. This 12-month long partnership is intended to help foster The Cornerstone’s vision of innovation and entrepreneurship through building connection between the community and the university.

University of Kentucky to Create Equity Map of Central KY with $31,500 Grant

The University of Kentucky Sustainability Challenge Committee awarded a $31,500 grant that will fund Phase 1 of the Economic Development Collaborative (EDC) bold idea #4: Create an Equity Map of Central KY. Led by Marilyn Clark, the EDC, the Equitable Economic Development subcommittee and the UK Geography department, the plan aims to create a dynamic equity map for the state of Kentucky.

University of Kentucky Celebrates May Commencement

The University of Kentucky's biggest economic development event of the year took place earlier this month on Friday, May 5th and Saturday, May 6th. Thousands of students crossed the graduation stage and receive their diplomas. A total of 5,811 May degree candidates were conferred by the UK Board of Trustees. This includes 3,745 undergraduate, 1,433 graduate and 633 professional degree candidates.

POSTPONED: UK Community Innovation Partner, FoodChain and UK Food Connection Partner to Host First Tilapia Harvest

This event has been postponed to June.  FoodChain, the Cornerstone Community Innovation Partner, and the University of Kentucky (UK) Food Connection are partnering to host the first Tilapia harvest from the Cornerstone aquaponics system. The event is scheduled for Thursday, April 27th, starting at 2 PM for the harvest at the Cornerstone, and continuing at 4 PM with a cooking class at the Food Connection. Renowned Chef Tanya Whitehouse will be using the fresh harvest to teach attendees how to make fish tacos, which will be served at the event.
