The University of Kentucky College of Communication and Information (CI) and the Gatton College of Business and Economics are excited to announce collaborative initiatives related to entrepreneurial thinking.

CI is home to the Innovation Network for Entrepreneurial Thinking (iNet) certificate. This multidisciplinary certificate is geared towards students interested in an academic and entrepreneurial pathway at UK.

“The iNet certificate allows students from any major to explore innovative ideas across a variety of classes and then take those ideas to the next level by receiving mentoring, participating in exciting opportunities like pitch competitions or completing a capstone in the Entrepreneur's Bootcamp,” said Brandi Frisby, senior associate dean in CI.

iNet students are often encouraged to develop and pursue their own entrepreneurial ideas, business concepts and products. One way in which they can do that is with a culminating capstone experience as participants in the Entrepreneur’s Bootcamp.

“We’re looking forward to our continued partnership with the College of Communication and Information,” said Mariam Gorjian, assistant director and founder of the Entrepreneurs Bootcamp in the Von Allmen Center for Entrepreneurship. “Dean Jennifer Greer and Dr. Frisby have been instrumental in helping carve out a path for students to develop their entrepreneurial skills, while also including Kentucky’s innovation ecosystem and resources,” said Gorjian.

Students interested in earning the iNet certificate can contact Amanda Lawrence, assistant dean for student success in the College of Communication and Information. For more information, please visit this website.

Students interested in the bootcamp will need to attend the orientation of the Entrepreneur's Bootcamp 1.0 Accelerator on Wednesday, Aug. 23, from 5-6 p.m. Registration is required and can be found here.
