UK Stanley and Karen Pigman College of Engineering to Host SEC Leadership Meeting Focused on Economic Development
The University of Kentucky Stanley and Karen Pigman College of Engineering will host the annual Southeastern Conference (SEC) Engineering Leadership Meeting on campus July 21–23. This year’s meeting will focus on the role of colleges of engineering in advancing economic and workforce development across the Southeast.
Members of the university community are invited to attend the open portion of the program, which will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday, July 22, in the Harris Ballroom at the Gatton Student Center. No registration is required.
The morning will begin with keynote remarks from Jamie Link, secretary of the Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet, and Jeff Noel, secretary of the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development. Their remarks will be followed by a panel discussion featuring leaders from industry, government and academia on the topic: “What can colleges of engineering do to best support economic and workforce development?”
Panelists will include Stephan Brennan, senior vice president of manufacturing business operations at Toyota Motor North America; Bryan Boudouris, vice president for research and economic development at the University of Alabama; Mike Buckentin, CEO of the Kentucky Metals Innovation Initiative; Jeff Gronberg, CEO of deciBel Research; and Terry Samuel, president of the Kentucky Science and Technology Corporation.
Faculty, staff, and campus partners interested in innovation, research, talent development, and regional impact are encouraged to attend.
