LEXINGTON, Ky. — Student entrepreneurs from the University of Kentucky, Transylvania University, Bluegrass Community and Technical College, and Fayette County Public Schools will present their innovative ideas at the upcoming 250LEX Entrepreneurial Showdown. The live pitch competition will take place from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, at the Transylvania University Campus Center.

Five student-led ventures will be featured, each focused on solving real-world problems through creativity, technology and practical design.

Two University of Kentucky undergraduates will represent UK at the competition:

Sarisha Lohano will present DocAI, a platform that provides patients with personalized, animated videos to help them better understand medical diagnoses and treatment plans. The project aims to improve patient comprehension through clear, visual communication. Lohano is a biology major in the Lewis Honors College and the College of Arts and Sciences.

Wyatt Hench, a student in the College of Engineering, will pitch Handy Hat, a magnetic-brimmed hat designed to hold small metal hardware such as screws or nails, making it easier for users to work hands-free on DIY or construction projects.

Teams from Transylvania University, BCTC and FCPS will also compete in the showdown, presenting a diverse lineup of entrepreneurial concepts.

The event is part of 250LEX, a citywide celebration of Lexington’s 250th anniversary. Throughout 2025, the initiative is hosting a yearlong series of events highlighting the city’s history, culture, innovation and community spirit. Each month focuses on a different theme—from Lexington’s equestrian heritage and bourbon legacy to its vibrant arts, sports, and entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Founded in 1775, a year before the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Lexington is celebrating its past, honoring its present and looking boldly toward the future. The 250LEX Entrepreneurial Showdown reflects that spirit by showcasing the ideas and energy of the next generation of leaders and innovators.

The competition is open to the public.
