University of Kentucky partnering to host small business workshop during Navy Week
LEXINGTON, Ky. — The University of Kentucky, in partnership with the Kentucky APEX Accelerator and Small Business Administration, will host a small business workshop designed to help companies pursue contracting opportunities with the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps during Navy Week Lexington 2026.
The event, “How to Do Business with the Navy & Marine Corps,” will take place Wednesday, April 8, from 9a to 12:30p, at UK's Cornerstone building. The in-person workshop is part of Navy Week Lexington, a national outreach initiative connecting communities with sailors and highlighting the Navy’s mission and economic impact.
The workshop will feature representatives from the Department of the Navy’s Office of Small Business Programs. Speakers will share guidance on federal procurement processes, contract readiness and available opportunities for small businesses seeking to work with the Navy and Marine Corps.
University of Kentucky economic development leaders and local organizations will also be available to connect attendees with technical assistance, business development services and veteran-focused resources that support participation in federal contracting.
The workshop is free and open to Kentucky business owners, but space is limited and advance registration is required.
Navy Week Lexington runs April 6–12 and marks the first time the national Navy Week program has visited the city, bringing sailors, community events and educational programming to the region.
