UK Supplier Diversity Hosts Construction Outreach Event

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 17, 2022) — The University of Kentucky Supplier Diversity team hosted a Construction Outreach event Tuesday, Nov. 15, inside the Gatton Student Center. The event was designed to introduce contractors, subcontractors and professional service providers to the process of doing business with the university.

UK Economic Development Collaborative to Host 3rd Annual State of the EDC

The University of Kentucky Economic Development Collaborative will host its 3rd annual State of the EDC from 1-2:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15 in Cornerstone UKFCU theater. The event will also be available through Livestream. The purpose of the event is to tell UK’s economic development story and to engage all interested parties through a two-way communication channel to ensure the work of EDC addresses the needs of the stakeholders.

Community Innovation Partner Update: FoodChain Installs Aquaponics System in the Cornerstone

The Cornerstone Community Innovation Partner, FoodChain, installed their Aquaponic System Thursday, Nov. 10 with the help of students from the College of Agriculture. FoodChain, with the assistance of both students and community members, built the system a week prior at FoodChain.

Coldstream's Newest Tenant, FIFTEEN51 Apartments, to Host Open House

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 15, 2022) — FIFTEEN51, Coldstream’s newest tenant, is hosting an open house tomorrow, Nov.16 from 4 to 7 pm. The event is open to anyone interested in seeing Lexington’s newest luxury apartment complex. With the addition of the new apartments, Coldstream is now a live, work, play, and innovation neighborhood. Those who use the campus' recreational amenities or work on campus now have the option of living there.

UK Human Resources Hosts Fireside Chat with TIAA President and CEO Thasunda Brown Duckett

(Oct.20, 2022) — Yesterday, The University of Kentucky Human Resources facilitated a fireside chat session with Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America (TIAA) President and CEO Thasunda Brown Duckett. Duckett joined TIAA in 2021 after serving as chief executive officer of Chase Consumer Banking. Previously, she was CEO of Chase Auto Finance and national retail sales executive for Chase Mortgage Banking.

UK celebrates opening of new Coldstream research facility ‘The CoRE’

Representatives from the University of Kentucky, the Woodbury Corporation and state and local officials celebrated the official opening of The CoRE — Collaboration. Research. Entrepreneurship facility at UK’s Coldstream Research Campus. The $15 million development offers early stage, high-tech companies office and laboratory space in an environment where they can further develop and commercialize their products and services.

UK to Host Resource and Business Summit For Veterans

UK will be hosting a Veterans Resource and Business Summit on October 25th. The event has several sponsors including UK Purchasing and Supplier Diversity, UK Veterans Resource Center, UK Human Resources, The Kentucky Veterans Business Alliance, The Kentucky Procurement Technical Assistance Center, the US Small Business Association, National Veteran Owned Business Association, UK Sustainability, and UK Equitable Economic Development.

UK Selected as Finalist for Two Economic Development Awards

(Aug. 22, 2022) — Two University of Kentucky economic development initiatives have been chosen as finalists for the University Economic Development Association (UEDA) Awards of Excellence. The initiatives were selected as finalists “for representing the top university-based economic development initiatives in the country, as judged by their peers.”

Fall Classes Start with Largest Freshman Class in UK History

The Univesity of Kentucky kicked off the Fall semester with a recording-breaking freshman class of just over 6,000 students. "Nothing is more central to our state’s progress than educating a skilled and diverse workforce and citizenry," said President Capilouto in a recent article outlining the new year.
