Historic UK budget will expand access to health care, education to more Kentuckians

LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 16, 2023) — The University of Kentucky Board of Trustees on Friday approved a $6.8 billion fiscal year 2023-24 budget for the institution that represents record-setting investments in the pillars of its mission — students, health care, research and service.

University of Kentucky Celebrates May Commencement

The University of Kentucky's biggest economic development event of the year took place earlier this month on Friday, May 5th and Saturday, May 6th. Thousands of students crossed the graduation stage and receive their diplomas. A total of 5,811 May degree candidates were conferred by the UK Board of Trustees. This includes 3,745 undergraduate, 1,433 graduate and 633 professional degree candidates.

POSTPONED: UK Community Innovation Partner, FoodChain and UK Food Connection Partner to Host First Tilapia Harvest

This event has been postponed to June.  FoodChain, the Cornerstone Community Innovation Partner, and the University of Kentucky (UK) Food Connection are partnering to host the first Tilapia harvest from the Cornerstone aquaponics system. The event is scheduled for Thursday, April 27th, starting at 2 PM for the harvest at the Cornerstone, and continuing at 4 PM with a cooking class at the Food Connection. Renowned Chef Tanya Whitehouse will be using the fresh harvest to teach attendees how to make fish tacos, which will be served at the event.

CEDIK executive director wins 2022 Excellence in Extension award

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 18, 2022) — A University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, Food and Environment professor recently garnered national recognition for her work. Alison Davis, extension professor in the UK Department of Agricultural Economics and executive director of the Community and Economic Development Initiative of Kentucky (CEDIK), received the 2022 Excellence in Extension for an Individual award.
